Old gear / shooting with meaning

August 19, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

As a result of the reorganization of gear I recently undertook, I am now using two old lenses (Canon FD, manual focus) with the OMD-EM5 (Mark 1). These lenses belonged to a family member and were handed down to me, so I have considerable emotional investment in them.

By modern standards, they probably don't cut it. The brick wall shooters and pixel peepers of the world would likely be horrified. However, used intelligently, they provide more than good enough quality for me. One is a 50mm 1.8, which is admittedly soft at 1.8, but stopped down a little it's fine. The other is a 70-150, which in 35mm terms is like a 140-300, a quite useful range for certain types of shooting.

As far as my metadata can tell, everything in this post was shot on the OMD EM5 with one or the other of these lenses. Hope you like the pictures!

In case you were wondering, yes, that is Liam Gallagher. It's a poster for a concert in Tokyo.

Plenty more where they came from, so keep an eye out.

Thanks for looking!
