A day out in Gifu

Gifu is one of Aichi's neighbouring prefectures and lies almost smack bang in the middle of Japan. It actually has borders with no less than seven prefectures, and is totally landlocked. We went there to see an exhibition of art by various artists - the main attraction being a collection of pictures by none other than Hiroshige.

While it was freezing cold up there (it's north of us, it was late February, and there was a wind blowing) it was an impressive exhibition. Once it was over we took the opportunity to look around the area (the actual city is named Ena) - and photograph it. So here are some of the results.

There's also an "old-town" area called Iwamura, which is quite nice and lent itself to some good late-afternoon light opportunities:

Lots more in the vault, but that's it for this one.

Thanks for looking!
