Using the rain

June 30, 2019  •  Leave a Comment

It's rainy season right now - or, as it's rather poetically known here, the season of the plum rains. Poetic or otherwise, it means it rains quite a lot (and that's coming from someone who lived in England for 30 years).

I had an idea a couple of weeks ago while I was on the way somewhere. I had an umbrella, as it was raining, and I thought "what would happen if I shot my iPhone through the wet umbrella?" Then a week or so ago, I was at Honganji temple in Tsukiji (it's practically opposite where I work) and the day before it had rained very hard. Puddles everywhere, meaning a good chance to do something with the reflections.

Thus the pictures in this article are a combination of these two experiments. Everything shot with the iPhone 7 plus. Hope you like them!

This last one wasn't shot using an umbrella, or a window, but it's still on the "rain" theme, and I quite like it.

More to come, so keep an eye out.

Thanks for looking!
