The last in this little set of three is about composition - shots where composition is the main component of the picture. My fundamental understanding of this was changed when I was watching a video of (not surprisingly for me) Jay Maisel, who said that in a street shooting situation, "you're not composing it, you're cropping it". In other words, composition is the act of setting things up, whereas cropping (as he uses the word) is framing the shot such that you see what you want. The composition, so to speak, is there already, and you just decide what to put in and what to leave out. I think there's a subtle but definite difference in his definition and how most other people define "composition".
Semantics aside though, hope you like these!

That concludes this three parter. The next set will likely feature the annual riot of colour known as autumn in Japan.
Thanks for looking!
This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.
