A walk in the park / clichés

It's nice living near a fairly large park (and, by Japanese standards, a pretty green one: many of what are called "parks" here are noticeably lacking in grass). I worry about running out of things to photograph there, but I think it's more a question of the photographer's mental state: some days I will go there and see nothing, other days I'll get quite a haul of shots. Yesterday was the latter kind of day.

I actually got lucky even before I reached the park: there were some guys doing some kind of work with the telephone poles. The sun was coming in and out, so some of the shots turned out better in black and white and others better in colour.

The benefits of a 10x zoom:

Next up, the park itself. Shooting men on telephone poles isn't the most typical subject, but from here on we get into real cliché territory. Flowers, dogs and cats. I think that there's a period for most photographers when they shoot these things a lot (because they're relatively easy to shoot and not hard to find), then they start considering such subjects to be "below them" or juvenile, and then the last stage is that they don't really care either way and if it looks good, they'll shoot it. I hope I'm at the last of these.

They always have a nice selection of flowers in this park anyway, and (as I said above) while shooting flowers is one of the most obvious things that you can do with a camera, it can still be fun.

Next up, cats. Another favourite.

In the same area as this cat was a cute old dog (and I mean old: according to her owner, she will be 13 next birthday, which in dog years is definitely a pensioner). She was very docile and seemed to have no problem with me pointing the camera at her, although the D7000's very good quiet mode probably helped.

Lastly some shots of non dog/cat/flower subjects

Thanks for looking!
