Transit pictures

January 13, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

A relatively short entry when compared to the last two: these are the shots you take while you're in the actual process of traveling, as opposed to those you take when you've arrived.

I like shooting from planes, as well as anywhere else where an opportunity presents itself. So most of these are either sky, airport, station, or some combination thereof.

First one was shot while waiting for the bullet train. Saw this kid and his (presumably) grandmother in the window of the train on the other platform.

Also, just as our train was pulling in, I thought there would be a nice shot with the station attendant with the train behind her

We were on an early train and the sun had yet to come up.  When it did though, it was worth the wait. Shot from the train window.

Once in the air, I was shooting the scenery. Because you're shooting through a window, and because of the atmospheric effects outside, the pictures are initially soft and underwhelming. But play around with them enough and they can become pretty interesting

When returning to Japan, we used a tiny little airport which averages about six flights a day (as opposed to Heathrow which probably averages six a minute). There was nice light, so I got a couple of pictures of the planes there

Finally, a couple of shots from the area around Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. A nice moment.

That wraps up the New Year travel. Hope you enjoyed it. There should be a new entry in the near future, so stay tuned.

Thanks for looking!

This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.
