A roundup of recent shots

June 18, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

No special theme here, just a few shots which I haven't put up but wanted to. Everything shot with the DP3 Merrill and touched up with a combination of Sigma's own software (which isn't as awful as it's made out to be, just slow) and Photoshop.

These date from the last month or so and include some from today (as of writing this).

Rocks

Using a non-low-light-monster-camera at night: put it on a stable surface, set the timer for 2 seconds, and hope for good timing.

For some reason there are quite a few animal shots in here.

This shot of the parrot, when zoomed in, is amazing. The detail on the feathers and the beak are astonishing.

I saw the best minds of my generation...

The Merrill 3 can create some shallow depth of field and quite nice bokeh when used the right way

The world of communication

"A flower?"

Lastly, this is something I've been meaning to do with the Merrill for a while. Take it to a vantage point (the TV tower in this case) and shoot the scenery from way up high. I can only tell you that the detail it picks out from these kinds of shot is mind-bendingly impressive.

Thanks for looking! Hopefully there will be some scanned film shots up at some time in the not too distant future.

This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.

If you like what you see, please leave a message and I'll try to answer all comments.

Thank you!
