This year's Golden Week was on the busy side, and resulted in quite a burst of photographic activity.

This first set is the result of a few day trips to various places, some of which provided better picture opportunities than others, but all of which had at least something to offer. Hope you like these!

Quick note on this last one. I don't often do food photos, as it's just not a subject which interests me. However, the X Vario has a very impressive macro-ish close-up mode (which will feature very prominently in a later post), and when we visited the family home of one of my wife's friends, we were served these rather artistically made confectioneries (called "wagashi" in Japanese: literally, "Japanese sweets"). I thought they deserved to be immortalised before being consumed.
