Photography and self-restraint part 2

June 14, 2020  •  Leave a Comment

As in the previous post, (almost) all of these were shot within reasonable walking distance of where I live. The exception (and the reason for it) comes at the end. There's a second theme, too: darkness. Everything here was shot as the sun was on the way, or fully, down (giving the iPhone a chance to show off with night mode too).

Hope you like them!

I wouldn't normally post four pictures from almost the same place, but when I found this scene, they sky was in "blue hour" mode, and I realised that anyone walking out would be silhouetted against the wall. It was too good to resist.

Finally, the exception: at the time these were shot, we had guests visiting (in retrospect, they couldn't have timed it better, as this was just before the various governments of the world started imposing bans on entering their respective countries). They wanted to visit a traditional Japanese restaurant, but not just any old one: Gonpachi, AKA the restaurant which famously inspired the House of Blue Leaves scene in "Kill Bill". Having not been there myself, it was quite the experience to see; the influence is instantly visible:

The next post should include pictures from a slightly wider area...

Thanks for looking!

This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.

If you like what you see, please leave a message and I'll try to answer all comments.

Thank you!
