Bridges, rivers and the "Sigma glow"

February 01, 2019  •  Leave a Comment

A post on a Friday is not something I do often, but I'm away for the weekend and I don't like to go more than a week without an article if I can help it.

There is a certain camera company of which it is sometimes said their cameras/lenses produce a "glow". This is usually met with disdain from users of other cameras and can, if it gets into a less than civil debate, turn into quite amusing reading on certain online forums.

However, I can one-up that and introduce, for this post and this post only, the "Sigma glow". This is the result of what I thought was a permanent scratch on the lens of my DP0 Quattro, the result of which was a strange pattern right in the middle of the picture. Depending on the picture, this pattern was anything from almost invisible to very clearly visible indeed. I've since managed to get rid of the scratch and thus the pattern, but as a reminder to keep my lens clean I'm putting up the pictures which featured it. (Those which don't are from the OMD-EM5 with the Canon FD 1.8 50mm)

These are all from a walk I took around an area of the Sumida river. Hope you like them even with the pattern!

No more glow (I hope), but there should be more photos on the way.

Thanks for looking!
