Nokogiriyama

January 20, 2019  •  Leave a Comment

Nokogiriyama (literally translated as "saw mountain" but nicknamed "sawtooth mountain" due to its jagged edges) lies in Chiba, ideal for a day out from Tokyo. There's a ferry which takes about 40 minutes, and I always thought that by sea is the most civilised way to travel.

I'll let the pictures do the talking from here. Equipment used : Olympus OMD-EM5 with adapted Canon manual focus lenses, Sigma DP Quattro 0 (which had a major stain right in the middle of the lens which I didn't notice, so certain of the pictures look like there's vaseline on them) and the iPhone 7 plus; the photos also include the port area and the ferry trip itself.

Hope you like these!

Lastly, this one brought to mind a quote which has been attributed to a number of photographers : "we do not take photos, we are taken by photos". When I saw this scene, I knew I had to shoot it. I already knew that the figures in the foreground would be all but total silhouettes, and that the sunlit parts of the sea would probably be blown out completely, but something about the shot just screamed to be taken.

I may take a break next week, but there are still more photos to come.

Thanks for looking!
