Monochrome March 1

I've actually been planning this series for quite some time, so it is a (disagreeable) coincidence that an entire month of black and white photos should be published while we are seeing a major case of "black and white" (used in the figurative sense of "evil and good") going on in the world.

A few months back I had an itch I had to scratch: to spend a period of time shooting nothing but black and white. I did so by buying (with the express intention of using and then re-selling) one of the only digital cameras on the market which is designed to shoot black and white only. (It was the Leica Monochrom 246; there is no way on earth I would ever be able to afford the Phase One dedicated monochrome camera). As I had planned, I used it until the itch was scratched and then sold it again. It was worth the experience; the Monochrom 246 has astounding image quality and, like any Leica M, is a blast to use.

Enough talk, though, and instead here is the first set of pictures. Hope you enjoy them.

The next set from this series should be up next week.

Thanks for looking!
