iPhone 11 pro first shots part 1

As mentioned in an earlier post, I went for a phone upgrade: from the 7 plus to the 11 pro. I'm not one for upgrading to every new model that comes out (and to be frank, the lines in front of Apple stores on release day actually make me kind of embarrassed as an iPhone user - a sort of guilt by association), but the 11 pro gained enough over the 7 plus (an ultra-wide lens, a stabilised long lens, and the night mode) that I figured it would be worth it.

Overall impressions are good. I don't know if the image quality is that much of a jump over the 7 plus, but the aforementioned improvements and additions make for interesting shots which weren't really an option before. Plus the software trickery lets it handle scenes with a lot of dynamic range, which would likely have been too much for earlier phones to handle. I'll have more to say about night mode in later articles, but in general I agree with the general perception that it is the result of witchcraft.

So this and the next article will feature my early experiments with this new gadget. Hope you like them!

The second set of these will hopefully be up next week.
