Two sequences

Posting on a Saturday as I'm out tomorrow.

Before we get to the autumnal colours (which tend to bookend the year), a couple of what I call "sequences". It's just another way of saying "I find a scene which could be a good backdrop, and then wait for people to enter it".

The first one was a wall with a curving line painted on it. Once people walk through the area, they are framed by the line. Simple concept, so here we go:

The second one: in downtown Shinjuku, there is a - for lack of a better word - sculpture-kind-of-thing which forms the word "LOVE" in big red letters stacked two on top of each other (you can Google "Shinjuku love sign" to see it from the front; make sure you include the word "sign" or you'll probably end up with a different set of search results entirely, if you follow my drift). The letters contain plenty of spaces, and the light was good, so I was trying to find novel ways to shoot it. I ended up with some almost kaleidoscopic patterns, which I wasn't expecting.

I find the concept of the "selfie" to be pretty odious. However, if there is a way to make use of oneself as a compositional element (without having the need to plaster one's face all over the net), then I can go along with that. PS, I'm not a Cyberman, just wearing headphones.

Hope to start the "autumn colours" series next week.

Thanks for looking!

This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.

If you like what you see, please leave a message and I'll try to answer all comments.
