Autumn / Fall / Colo(u)r part 2

December 13, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

After posting the previous entry, I wasn't sure if I had enough pictures for a second part - and then we got several days of near-perfect weather for shooting the last of the seasonal colour. So a second part there is, and this is it.

I intentionally took some shots in an urban setting for a bit of variety and contrast, and the iPhone's HDR function proved itself extremely useful. Meter the scene accurately, add in an HDR shot, and it can handle some pretty extreme dynamic range scenes. Most of the iPhone shots in this entry are SOOC (for the non-photo-geeks, that's "Straight Out Of Camera", i.e. with no processing other than that which the iPhone's software applied), although given that the main function of the iPhone is to make calls, maybe that should be SOOP. Anyway. Enjoy the pics.

This shot (below) was tricky. The sky was very bright, the buildings very dark, and only a very small bit of the tree was lit up. By getting the metering point more or less right and letting the HDR do its stuff, I was pretty pleased with how it came out.

I think that's definitely it for the autumn / fall colo(u)r pics for this year (and it saves me having to type out that tricky title again). Still quite a few pics waiting for an upload, so there will be more to come in due course.

Thanks for looking!
