Hometown, part 1

September 10, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

Not literally my hometown, but the place that I live now: Nagoya. The title came from an event over the weekend, where people from various areas of Japan came to showcase their area's culture, food, art, etc. These events are quite common and are themselves good places to hang around with a camera at the ready.

Everything in this entry (and the next) is Nagoya, though. No other theme than that.

Firstly, a couple of shots from a music event at Oasis 21, a bus centre with a UFO on its roof (don't ask).

Now some pictures from Meijo Koen, a park not far from where I live

Recently I've been studying how to better measure and capture light, and with the help of a couple of excellent videos on the subject (and co-operative weather), I got a few interesting shots.

Last shot from the park: this one's not so much about light as about "how on earth did the Sigma hit the focus on this while panning?" I suspect a large amount of luck. Either way, the focus is dead on the bird.

Our next destination is another park: Shirakawa Park in the Fushimi area. Handful of shots from here:

Last destination for part 1 is Hisaya-Odori, one of the main roads that runs through Nagoya's most popular shopping and entertainment district. It has several areas for exhibitions and festivals, and yesterday's "hometown festival" was held at one of these places.

Part 2 will follow soon, and will mainly be shots from "the streets" and from the temple at Osu.

Thanks for looking!

This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.
