Yes, another fireworks display. This time it was in Okazaki, a city around half an hour by fast train from Nagoya. I lived in Okazaki for two years and really liked living there. It's historically interesting - it can claim to be the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu (one of three incredibly important historical figures in the history of Japan) and it also has a very popular fireworks display (by "popular" you can read "incredibly crowded".
I had a choice of getting a good spot for the fireworks, or having a life, and I went with the latter. So the best spot I could find wasn't a bad spot as such, but there were trees in the way. They were mostly silhouetted, so they actually work as an interesting element in the pictures, but sometimes I cropped them out along with some other empty space to make the picture more pleasing.
There were fireworks from two directions, in front of me and behind, so I was switching around a bit.
After what I thought was the finale, I packed up my tripod - and the fireworks started up again. So I took the chance to record them with the D7000's video function. I'll upload the videos later.
Anyway, pictures.
They actually started slightly before it got dark, so I lowered the exposure quite a bit in post here.
Not sure if the trees add to the picture or get in the way.
It was pretty dark , and I was keeping the shutter open for a good 6 seconds, so you get the added bonus of the ghost people at the bottom right.
I cropped the trees out on this one. Looks nicer that way.
From the other direction
Slightly surreal effect here. But I like it.
I like how the castle appears to be dwarfed by the trailing fireworks here.
Long exposure (several seconds) means that you're seeing two or three separate launches mixed together. Like a double exposure, but without the second shot.
There may be one more fireworks entry to come. Thanks for reading / looking!
This is a collection of posts. Some (most) have a particular theme, but some are just collections. I try to only include my best shots in here.
